Large lifting magnets from the HMA-S series promise excellent performance

The high-performance magnets in the HMA-S series are round magnets specially developed for safe and reliable scrap handling and drop ball applications. The one-piece magnet housing with a high-quality ribbed structure ensures enormous temperature stability, optimum load capacity, and a long service life. The double coil arranged one above the other increases the output of the MLA15, for example, from 12.5 kW to 20 kW for the HMA15-S. Further advantages of these high-performance magnets:
  • The oversized outer pole helps to minimize wear on the magnet.
  • The solenoid coil is made of state-of-the-art aluminum strip and is installed in the solenoid to absorb shocks.
  • A high-quality silicone compound optimally protects and insulates the coil, ensuring that the magnet can be used safely over the long term.
  • A reinforced base plate made of high-quality and non-magnetic manganese hard steel protects the solenoid coil permanently.

Long service life under extreme conditions

Another feature is reinforced magnetic poles, which are welded on to armor the magnet and thus reduce pole wear during rough scrap handling. This reinforcement increases the magnet’s hardness on the Brinell scale from 150-160 HB (GS45) to around 600 HB. The result is an even longer service life for the magnet—even in extreme applications.

What are lifting magnets, and how do they work?

A lifting magnet is an indispensable tool for transporting heavy, ferromagnetic materials such as steel plates, pipes, or scrap. It enables loads to be lifted, moved, and set down safely and efficiently. Load-lifting magnets work by generating a strong magnetic field from an electric current. Our electromagnets activate the magnetic field as soon as the magnet is switched on.

A belt or hydraulically driven generator usually generates the required current directly on the carrier device. Thanks to the interaction between the generator and magnet, ferromagnetic materials can be moved precisely, safely, and quickly. The qualities of a coordinated magnet system, consisting of a magnet generator and lifting magnet, are particularly evident when dropping the load.

When the load-lifting magnet would only be switched off, the magnetized material would only demagnetize slowly and gradually falls from the magnet. With the Mozelt system, a counter-excitation is generated when the material is dropped, reversing the polarization of the load-lifting magnet, which repels the material from the magnet. Thanks to this technology, the lifting magnet is exceptionally efficient and an extremely reliable and safe helper for everyday use.
